Choosing your department on the web

This article covers the web app.

Costume and Hair & Make up share the same production but rarely need each other's screens. Set a department preference on the web and Haystack trims the sidebar and tabs down to the department you work in.

Setting your preference

  1. Open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and choose Account Settings.
  2. Under Preferences, set Department to Costume, Hair & Make up, or All departments.
  3. The choice saves as you pick it. You are also offered the same dropdown when you first select a project.

What the preference changes

  • Under Products, the sidebar shows only your department's list.
  • A character shows only your department's changes and scene notes tabs.
  • A scene shows only your department's prep-note tab.
  • Report dialogs start on your department.

The preference is a lens, not a wall. Nothing is hidden from you permanently: links to the other department's pages still open, and switching back to All departments brings everything into view again.
